Tour operator recognises suppliers’ achievements with awards

Press release date: 07/11/2017

A Bali hotel supporting people with craniofacial disabilities and a game reserve's save the rhino campaign are two of the winners in the first ever Premier Holidays Partner Awards.

Earlier this year, Premier invited the trade to nominate hotels in the operator's long and short haul destinations for its new awards scheme aimed at recognising and rewarding suppliers that go beyond the call of duty.

The winners in the long haul categories are:

Outstanding Contribution Award: Nimit Boonporn, guest relations officer at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Bangkok. Nimit has worked at the hotel since 1989 and has gone to great lengths to enhance guests' stays, always giving a special touch with a warm welcome to make them feel at home.

Conservation Award: Kariega Game Reserve, South Africa; the game reserve worked tirelessly to save two rhinos that were poached in 2012. One of the animals, Thandi, went from strength to strength and her story inspired people around the world. Save the Rhino was established to support Thandi's recovery, and she has since produced two calves.
Runner-up: The Andaman, Langkawi; in recognition for it Coral Conservation project launched in 2010 following the 2004 tsunami.

Most Unique Product Award: Elephant Hills, Khao Sok National Park, Thailand; one of the world's only floating luxury tented camps with a focus on conservation. Its ethical elephant encounter is a unique experience where people can feed and interact with the creatures.

Community Award: Grand Hyatt Bali; the hotel has supported the Smile Foundation, which helps people in Bali and neighbouring islands with craniofacial disabilities, for nine years by hosting charity events and sponsoring doctors. It is supporting the foundation's new project to expand services to the eastern part of Indonesia.

The winners in the short haul categories are:

Outstanding Contribution Award: Daniela Corasaniti, sales manager at Longueville Manor, Jersey. Since joining in 2010, Daniela has gone above and beyond in her duties, including getting stuck into dealing with a major flood at the hotel in 2015, which saw her work tirelessly in the mud for hours.

Best Cuisine Award: The Atlantic, Jersey; its exceptional fine dining restaurant ranks it as one of the best in the British Isles. In 2015, The Atlantic launched the annual Eat Jersey Food Festival to showcase the finest Jersey produce with leading chefs, which has attracted nationwide media exposure and increased visitors to the island out of season.

Most Unique Product Award: Bella Luce, Guernsey; the hotel's unique Wheadon's gin, which is produced on site, is available in over 70 bars and restaurants in the Channel Islands. The distillery is now a tourist attraction in its own right.

Community Award: Ommaroo Hotel, Jersey; in 2016 the family-run hotel marked its centenary year with a number of fundraising events to support local charities including Autism Jersey and ABF Soldiers Charity. It has continued to raise funds for worthwhile charities this year including for Mind Jersey.

The operator presented the awards to the winners at World Travel Market. Winners will also receive a logo for promotional purposes and a mention of their achievement in Premier's second edition brochures. The winners of the conservation and community categories will be given a donation on behalf of Premier Holidays for their projects.
