Due to the size of Alderney, vehicles are often unnecessary, although taxis and cars are used and there is an occasional bus throughout the summer. Many visitors prefer to discover Alderney on foot or by bicycle. On such a compact island you can take to the cliff paths on foot or cycle and enjoy a leisurely day exploring and discovering. Something that is very special to do is to take a ride on Alderney's famous train which runs to Mannez lighthouse. The Alderney Railway is the only remaining railway in the Channel Islands providing a timetabled public service – a must do for your Alderney holiday. The kids will love it.
