Roundtrip Vancouver Cruise

Vancouver 1 night
ms Nieuw Amsterdam 7 nights

Day 1: Fly to Vancouver. On arrival make your way to your hotel.

Day 2 Vancouver/Cruise: Make your way to the port to board ms Nieuw Amsterdam, which will set sail at 4.30pm.

Day 3 Scenic cruising the Inside passage: The fabled Inside Passage is a protected network of waterways that wind through glacier-cut fjords and lush temperate forests along the rugged coast of southeast Alaska. Arguably one of the greatest cruising routes in the world, the Inside Passage stretches through stunning landscapes, from Misty Fjords National Monument to famed Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. Sailing the Inside Passage offers opportunities to spot some of Alaska’s most iconic wildlife, with humpback whales and orca plying the bountiful waters alongside the ship, bald eagles soaring overhead and brown bears lumbering on the shoreline.

Day 4 Tracy Arm & Juneau, Alaska: This morning cruise the twisting slice of ocean called Tracy Arm Fjord which weaves through the Tongass National Forest for roughly 35 miles. With luck, you’ll see bears, whales and mountain goats, not to mention chubby baby seals resting on the ice floes. Arrive Juneau early afternoon which has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door, while the vast Tongass National Forest stretches away to the northeast. Should you not opt to join one of the optional shore excursions take a stroll around this sleepy city, which has a frontier town vibe.

Day 5 Skagway, Alaska: At the height of the Klondike Gold Rush, the port town of Skagway served as the primary gateway to the legendary gold fields and quickly grew into Alaska’s largest settlement. At every turn, you’ll find yourself immersed in gold rush history, from the infamous Red Onion Saloon to the White Pass & Yukon narrow-gauge railway. Rangers offer free walking tours around the historic district where you’ll also find a rich collection of galleries, curio shops and seafood restaurants.

Day 6 Glacier Bay: This World Heritage Site is the crown jewel of southeastern Alaska’s natural wonders, with more actively calving tidewater glaciers than anywhere else in the world. Watch for monumental chunks of ice as they split off a glacier and thunder into the sea with an impact that shoots water hundreds of feet into the air.

Day 7 Ketchikan, Alaska: Ketchikan clutches the shores of the Tongass Narrows and is flanked by green forests. The city has long been an important hub for salmon fishing and it is also one of the best spots along the Inside Passage to explore the rich cultural sights of Native Alaskan nations like Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian. Don’t miss historic Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bright State Park and Saxman Village.

Day 8 Scenic cruising the Inside passage: The Inside Passage hums with activity so there’s plenty to see.

Day 9 Vancouver, British Columbia: Morning arrival in Vancouver. Disembark and transfer to the airport for your onward journey, or alternatively why not extend your holiday in Vancouver.
