Day 2 Windhoek/Etosha National Park: Early morning departure as you head north via Okahandja to visit Otjikoto Lake, the largest lake in Namibia. This area was notorious for First World War battles and the lake still contains pieces of artillery disposed of by the Germans after they surrendered to Union Forces. Continue to the border and the Etosha National Park.

Day 3 Etosha National Park: A full day exploring this world class game park, visiting a number of waterholes to observe the wildlife, which may include rhinos, zebra, lions, springbok, wildebeest, giraffe, elephants and jackals.

Day 4 Etosha National Park: Continue westwards through the truly unique landscape of the park. Drive along the vast saltpan enjoying more amazing game sightings as well as a multitude of birdlife, including flamingos.

Day 5 Etosha National Park/Damaraland: An early start to experience Damaraland - one of Africa’s last true wilderness areas. Pass scenic landscapes and Damara villages before reaching the Petrified Forest, with trees thought to be over 250 million years old. Afternoon visit Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 2,000 rock carvings and fascinating geological features such as the Organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain.

Day 6 Damaraland: Optional morning hiking excursion to the “White Lady”, a rock painting found at Brandberg Mountain. Enjoy spectacular views of the open plains of the Damarland before returning for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 7 Damaraland/Swakopmund: Travel via Henties Bay to the charming coastal resort of Swakopmund. Visit Welwitschia Mirabilis, the Moon Landscape and the Oasis Goanikontes.

Day 8 Swakopmund: Free day to explore the town. Options include the museum, the aquarium, the crystal gallery or a harbour cruise. For the more adventurous quad biking and dune boarding can also be arranged.

Day 9 Swakopmund/Sossusvlei: Highlights today include Walvis Bay, a huge natural lagoon with an overwhelming abundance of seabirds. The journey continues to the edges of the Namib Desert, through the southern region of the Namib Naukluft Park, the Kuiseb Canyon and the Gaub Pass before arriving at Sossusvlei.

Day 10 Sossusvlei: Visit the spectacular dunes at Sossusvlei, reputedly the highest in the world. A sunrise departure will be arranged as this is when the colours are strongest and constantly changing allowing for wonderful photographic opportunities. If you so choose, take an energetic climb to the top of the dunes to experience the best views.

Day 11 Sossusvlei/Windhoek/Johannesburg: SDrive through the scenic Spreetshoogte Pass with its breathtaking views over the wide open plains and onwards onto Windhoek. Extend your stay? Or depart to Johannesburg.
