Borneo family holidays

Wherever you venture in the world there really is nowhere like Borneo. A truly great destination which has something to offer everyone from soft adventures to wildlife safaris. Visit the majestic Mount Kinabalu or the lush green rainforests of Sandakan home to the wild men of Borneo (the orang-utan) or experience the ancient traditions of the Iban tribes deep in the jungle. When you have had your fill of culture and wildlife, just sit back and relax on a beautiful palm fringed beach.

The island of Borneo is a mixture of three countries: It is home to the two East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak as well as the independent kingdom of Brunei. The remainder of the island, Kalimantan, belongs to Indonesia.

In the main towns of Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, the hotels offer excellent international standards. Upcountry, expect things to be a little less pampered and a touch more real! In fact, if you really want to experience the jungle, it is well worth considering opting to stay in a cabin by the river in Sandakan or in a longhouse dormitory in Sarawak. If you prefer your home comforts, though, hotel options are available.

Sabah

The beaches at the Rasa Ria and Nexus are long, white and sandy and ideal for relaxing after a little soft adventure.

Sarawak

In contrast to the life up country, and for a little relaxation after some unforgettable sightseeing, the Damai Beach Resort is the perfect spot.
