Western Australia beach holidays
Rugged, barren desert cedes into miles and miles of untouched white sand coasts in a land which is one of the most isolated in the world. Diversity is the name of the game, as this vast region, from the temperate south to the tropical north, offers holiday experiences to match any traveller’s dreams.
Perth lies 12 miles inland from the Indian Ocean on the peaceful banks of the Swan River on the west coast of Australia. This is one of the most remote cities in the world. It takes 3 days to drive across the Nullabor Plain (it means no trees) to the next large city, which is Adelaide! If you want to visit the nearest beach you'll need to head to Scarborough Beach.
Albany, about four and a half hours from Perth on the south west coast lies this old whaling station – a lovely little town which boasts some of the most most beautiful stretches of white sandy beach and crystal clear water.
Margaret River, a quaint, bustling town is around three hours drive south of Perth. It is home to world-renowned wineries, stunning beaches, majestic forests and the nearby caves of Mammoth, Lake and Jewel. Surfing is big in Margaret River and hosts one of the four star World Qualifying Series events, which attract large crowds. Take a trip down to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse (mainland Australia’s tallest lighthouse) to see the point where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet.
