The 5 inhabited islands of St Mary’s, Tresco, Bryher, St Agnes and St Martin’s set amongst hundreds of smaller islands and islets, comprise the beautiful Isles of Scilly, a peaceful haven just 28 miles from Lands’ End.
With flights departing 6 days a week from Southampton, Bristol, Exeter and Newquay, and travel by sea from Penzance to St Mary’s on the Scillonian III in 2 hours 40 minutes (both available from March to October only), escaping the daily grind has never been easier. If you’re looking for more of a thrill, or travelling to the Isles for a fleeting visit, why not travel by helicopter from Penzance (From 30 June 2012 helicopters will depart from Newquay) to St Mary’s or Tresco, which takes just 20 minutes!
Transfers can be arranged locally upon your arrival, with minibuses regularly departing the airport, at a return charge of £7 per person.
The ferry port is within walking distance of the centre of St Mary’s so you can walk and arrange for your luggage to be taken to your accommodation or take a taxi. The Isles enjoy a warmer climate than the mainland, boasting sub-tropical weather. Frost and snow are rare, and flowers grow much earlier than on the mainland.
