A self-drive tour allowing you to explore Tasmania’s wilderness, including the World Heritage landscapes of Cradle Mountain and the coastal town of Strahan.

Day 2 Launceston/Cradle Mountain: This morning leave Launceston en route to Cradle Mountain National Park using the Cradle Country touring route, which is one of the most scenic drives in Tasmania (approx 2 hours).
Day 3 Cradle Mountain: A full day at leisure. A chance to explore the national park and take one of the walks around the area; the most popular is the walk around Dove Lake at the base of Cradle Mountain. Also look out for the different wildlife on Tasmania – including the Tasmanian devil.
Day 4 Cradle Mountain/Strahan: Leave the national park behind as you drive on to the coastal town of Strahan. Take in the local fisherman unloading their catch of the day, or take a ride on the West Coast Wilderness Railway which follows in the tracks of the early miners and pioneers (approx. 2-3 hours).
Day 5 Strahan/Hobart: This morning take a cruise on Gordon River to marvel at the scenery around you in this World Heritage area, before heading onwards in your car to Hobart (approx. 4 hours).
Day 6 Hobart: This morning drop your hire car off, either downtown or at the airport. Alternatively extend your stay to explore the city of Hobart, visit the historic area or Port Arthur, or if staying on a Saturday visit the bustling Salamanca markets in the morning.
