The place
New South Wales’ iconic gateway is Sydney with its immediately recognisable sights – the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. You should absolutely savour this magnificent city, but don’t stop there! Take the time to venture into the hinterlands and along the coast and prepare to be amazed.

Geography: The scenery ranges from the flat narrow coastal strip with its long, sandy beaches to the mountainous interior of the Great Dividing Range and the Snowy Mountains with over two thirds of NSW being dry desert plain and barren outback.

Local time: GMT + 10 hours
Climate: Apart from the obvious reversal of seasons, New South Wales enjoys a temperate climate with hot summers and some humidity. The southern winter is cool to mild with some rain, but a lot of sunshine.
Airport information: Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport is located around 7 miles from downtown Sydney. Airport buses also operate to the city as well as an excellent train service. Transfer time by road is around 35 minutes.
